Following a preliminary examination a more lengthy assessment is done of the painting in the conservation studio. This examination utilizes different sources of illumination ( pictured above) and the painting is viewed with magnification through a stereomicroscope. A written examination report outlines the materials, structure and current condition of the painting. A written treatment plan is proposed to the client at this point.
